Scottish singer-songwriter Rab Noakes dies at 75
Scottish singer Rab Noakes was born in Cupar, Fife. Noakes died suddenly in the hospital according to soprano Barbara Dickson, who announced his death news on social media.

Noakes frequent musical partners included Dickson, who referred to him as ‘my beloved and old buddy.’
She also wrote on Twitter that she was startled. They had a lot in common, including their mutual love of traditional music, ‘The Everly Brothers’, and ‘The Flying Burrito Brothers’. She added that she wishes him a peaceful rest.
Writer, Val McDermid posted that he is in tears after hearing the news of Rab Noakes' death. He said that he had the privileged of knowing this talented, kind, open-hearted and generous man since he was 14 years old. He had never known a kinder soul or a better guitarist. He said he was being his typically positive self only a few days ago when they last messaged him.
Other well-known members of Scotland's artistic community also published memorial tributes.
Rab Noakes was described as a gentleman and an outstanding musician by Gaelic singer Julie Fowlis. Being with him was always enjoyable and educational , she said.
Horse McDonald, a singer-songwriter, said Noakes was a "giant of a guy" who will be "sorely missed."
