After moving from BBC Radio 1, DJ Scott Mills made an excellent start to his first BBC Radio 2 show. He has taken over from Steve Wright's show.

DJ Scott Mills has opened his first BBC Radio 2 show after moving from BBC Radio 1. He has taken over from Steve Wright's early afternoon slot. Steve, 68, has stepped back from the slot but still has his Sunday morning radio show.

Scott opened the show with Lady Gaga's "Bad Romance", which he called one of the best pop songs of the last 15 years.

New and old audiences

Scott greeted his users, acknowledging that he was new to many of them while others had heard him on BBC Radio 1. He admitted that many listeners would have been listening to this time slot for years. He said he felt so lucky to be there and continue a time slot that would have been the soundtrack to many listeners' lives.

Scott was seen receiving a warm welcome from Radio 2's Zoe Ball, and she greeted him with a warm embrace. Scott posted a picture of himself on Twitter, stating that he was back on the radio. He wished everyone a happy Halloween and invited them to listen to him on his brand new @BBCRadio2 show from 2 pm. He received a special treat for his debut from a guest, Tony, who rendered a personalised remix of the Backstreet Boys' Everybody. Scott was highly appreciative of Tony's special treat.
