Samantha Womack discloses she's cancer-free post a five-month treatment

Ex-EastEnders actress Samantha Womack revealed that she got to know about the cancer during her random check. The 50-year old star, who has been combating breast cancer since August, disclosed that she’s now cancer-free.

The Ex-EastEnders actress, Samantha Womack, has been combating breast cancer, as she disclosed this in August. Now the 50-year old star is doing pretty well and also cancer-free post a five month diagnosis. The actress took to social media and publicly shared about her cancer diagnosis with the netizens.

Samantha took the radiotherapy as a prevention treatment for her breast cancer cure. The BBC One Soap star said that she’s “thankful” for getting back to her life.

The actress said that she didn’t notice any lump during the treatment she took four months ago. However, during a random health checkup, the doctors detected a “little shadow”, spotting the sign of breast cancer.


Speaking about her breast cancer, Samantha said: “Now I'm just having some treatment as I go back to work, as a prevention – it was crazy, I was doing The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe – the producers there were amazing and gave me time off.”

Contemplating the trauma she has been through while tussling with the cancer, she added: “My treatment is ongoing for breast cancer, the surgery was quite difficult to recover from just because it's quite tender when you have lymph nodes removed, there's a few mobility issues at the beginning.”

“The first round of chemotherapy was pretty hardcore really, it was quite toxic – we were lucky because I got to recover in Spain, Ollie and Wallie were picking me up from the airport in Valencia.”

The actress also said that breast cancer has affected her femininity in the mid-way. Reminiscing about her health condition, she said, “It was really incredible because I didn't find a lump, I didn't feel unwell”.

“There had been a lot of illness around our friends and family and I just thought I'd get a random check and I had an ultrasound, and it showed a little shadow - at that point it could be anything, a cyst… then I had further investigations and then that diagnosis.”

She further added: “Breast cancer is a strange one, it attacks your body and your femininity, your hair, your breasts, all these beautiful women of all ages.”

“So many women should be checking themselves in their thirties. That is an important message to get out and check as well.”

Five months into the treatment, Samantha revealed that fighting this health condition is “terrifying”. Nevertheless, she eulogized the developments in the medical line, especially the therapy available to cure the cancer.
