Sam Womack, who plays Ronnie Mitchell on EastEnders, gave her fans a health update and informed that she was diagnosed with breast cancer. She shared she has been fighting the disease since August.

Sam Womack is famous for her role as Ronnie Mitchell in EastEnders for over 10 years and recently had an operation to get a lump removed from her lymph node and breast. She said she would start chemotherapy soon.

She took to Instagram and shared a video in which she thanked everyone who has shown so much support and love since they learned about her disease.




She said she has had her lymph node removal and lumpectomy operation, and will have a chemotherapy session soon.

She added that she had read everyone's messages and stories, which blew her away. She said the chances of recovery are higher when detected early.


Symptoms

Following are a few symptoms of Breast Cancer:
  • A swelling or lump in the armpit, upper chest, or breast
  • Skin changes like dimpling or puckering
  • Breast colour change (looks inflamed or red)
  • Change in nipples (gets inverted, for example)
  • Crusting or rashes around the nipples
  • Discharge of unusual liquid for the nipple
  • Change in shape or size of the breast
While getting breast cancer is rare in males, it is possible. The most common symptom is a chest area lump.
