Russia-Ukraine war: GCHQ chief says 'no indicators' Putin considering nuclear weapons

The head of GCHQ has said that there is presently no evidence to suggest that Russia is considering using nuclear weapons amid the Ukraine war.

Jeremy Fleming, like other recent Western and American officials, made no hints that there had been any signs of suspicious activity.

Jeremy Fleming added that GCHQ would expect to see "indicators" if Russia planned to use them. On Tuesday afternoon, the head of Ukraine's intelligence agency made a public statement in which he declared victory against "exhausted" Russian forces.

Jeremy slammed Russian president Putin's missteps, saying the mobilization of unskilled and jailed persons "speaks of a catastrophic situation."

In a March speech, Sir Jeremy said there was evidence that some Russian forces in Ukraine had violated orders, damaged their equipment, and accidentally shot down one of their aircraft.
