Russian President Vladimir Putin is all set to sign documents on Friday seeking to proclaim Russia's annexation of four regions in Ukraine, the Kremlin confirmed on Thursday. After a referendum, President Putin wants to annex four parts of Ukraine -- Zaporizhzhia, Luhansk, Donetsk, and Kherson. Officials having Russian backing in territories of Ukraine said there were overwhelming votes by majorities to join Russia.

The West and Ukraine have criticized the move and process, and the observers internationally are questioning the votes' legitimacy and saying it is illegal.

Many fear that President Vladimir Putin will claim Ukraine has attacked Russia through the annexure. Concerns are growing that a scenario like this can excuse Putin from using nuclear weapons or attacking critical communications. A takeover is expected after the voting ends on Tuesday.

Western allies and the US said the votes were a 'sham' and would not recognize the results. Dmitry Peskov, the spokesperson for the Russian government, said the pro-Russia administrators would sign treaties at a ceremony to join Russia. We also expect Putin to give a speech after the ceremony.
