Italian director Ruggero Deodato passed away at the age of 83. However, the cause of death is not known yet.

Ruggero Deodato, director of the infamous 1980 horror film “Cannibal Holocaust,” passed away at the age of 83. The Italian filmmaker apparently passed away on Thursday. However, no other information was immediately made public.

Deodato was well-liked in the horror world. His admirers are paying respect to him in the wake of the news. He was raised in the southern Italian town of Potenza and served as an assistant director on a number of Italian movies in the 1960s, including the cult classics Django, Ringo, and His Golden Pistol.

Later, he established himself as a filmmaker in his own right. He created comedies, criminal dramas, and musicals, including 1976's Live Like a Cop, Die Like a Man, the 1977 horror movie The Last Cannibal World, and The House on the Edge of the Park.


He had a long film career and worked in many different genres, but he is best known for his gory horror movie, “Cannibal Holocaust,” which was banned in several nations and even led to his being prosecuted for the murders of his actors.
