'Royal race row': Meghan Markle and Prince Harry urged to sue Omid Scobie over name leak

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are facing calls to take legal action against Omid Scobie following the release of his controversial book, "Endgame." In the book, Scobie claims that two members of the Royal Family, who allegedly discussed the color of Meghan and Harry's son's skin, were named in letters between Meghan and King Charles. The couple had previously accused an unnamed senior royal of expressing concerns about their son Archie's skin color during an interview with Oprah Winfrey.

Scobie contends that UK laws prevent him from disclosing the names, but the Dutch translation of "Endgame" seemingly identifies the two Royals involved in the race controversy. The Dutch version has been withdrawn from shelves, prompting questions about how the names were included.

However, the Dutch translator, Saskia Peeters, asserts that she did not add the names and translated what was present in the original manuscript. Peeters stated that the names of the royals were already in the English version she received and that she simply performed her job as a translator.


In response to the damaging allegations, Buckingham Palace has confirmed it is "considering all options." Solicitor Mark Stephens has suggested that Meghan and Harry would have grounds to "issue injunctive proceedings against Omid Scobie."

He said: "Privacy doesn't just belong to the palace it belongs separately and severally to Meghan and Harry, presumably they have given a solemn undertaking that this should never see the light of day and given their absolute horror at invasions of privacy it is frankly astonishing that they haven't already instructed Schillings [their legal team] to issue injunctive proceedings against Omid Scobie."
