A few weeks later, after Craig Jones' Northern Ireland tour, he entered his first gay club and sat down on a seat next to the man with whom he has been dating for 27 years.

He was glad to share that over 20 years later, on Remembrance Day last year, 22 LGBT+ soldiers from the military charity Fighting with Pride gathered on Horse Guards Avenue and walked past the Cenotaph for the very first time.

He was glad to see them commemorated and recognized at the National Cenotaph as honourable persons of whom they are proud because thousands of LGBT+ soldiers of our Armed Forces had died in battle. He worked as an armed boarding specialist of helicopter insertion during the trying years before the Good Friday Agreement, serving in the Gulf and managing border patrols in Northern Ireland.
