Rapper Gunna was released from prison on Wednesday after submitting a plea to one count of conspiring to break Georgia's Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act.
Atlanta's WSB-TV Channel 2 stated that the 29-year-old rapper received a five-year sentence with four years of probation. After that, the one-year sentence was reduced to time served along with extra conditions like 500 hours of community service.
According to the rapper's lawyer, Steve Sadow, his sentence will be over when he completes his community service. It will involve 350 hours of talking to young people about the "hazards and immorality" of gangs and gang violence.
Gunna entered an Alford plea, which allows a defendant to admit guilt while still maintaining their innocence, so long as it is believed that the prosecution's evidence will almost certainly result in a conviction at trial.

"An Alford plea in my case is the entry of a guilty plea to the one charge against me, which is in my best interest, while at the same time maintaining my innocence toward the same charge," he explained.
Despite Gunna's release, YSL founder Young Thug, is still detained and is awaiting trial. Thug, who has also defended his innocence, was one of the 28 people charged in May with conspiring to break the RICO Act. Following a search of his home, he was charged with seven additional crimes involving firearms and illegal drugs. The jury selection process for Thug's case is expected to begin in early 2023.
