Rail strikes in UK postponed but train services still to be affected. Here's why

A disagreement over wages and working conditions had prompted the call for the walkout.

The Rail Maritime and Transport (RMT) union has announced that a series of strikes by railroad employees scheduled for November 5, 7, and 9 have been postponed. However, the Network Rail issued a warning, noting that because of the late notification, services on Saturday would be highly reduced and that trains on Monday would also be impacted.

In-depth discussions with Network Train and the rail firms would now begin, according to the Rail Maritime and Transport (RMT), which represents rail employees. A disagreement over wages and working conditions had prompted the call for the walkout.

Staff at Network Rail, which employs signalling employees throughout England, Scotland, and Wales, participated in the strikes. Since just a fifth of services were scheduled to function, it was anticipated that the action would have a significant impact on the whole network. The prospect of a strike, according to RMT general secretary Mick Lynch, has caused the rail bosses to become more reasonable.
