Queen’s lead guitarist Brian May gets knighted by King Charles III at Buckingham Palace
Brian May, the iconic musician and animal rights activist, was bestowed with knighthood by King Charles III at an investiture ceremony held at Buckingham Palace.

His wife, Anita Dobson, who previously starred in "EastEnders," also attended the ceremony. In December 2022, May was included in King Charles III's honors list for New Year, which recognized over 1,000 people.
Aside from being a star musician, May is also an astrophysicist, receiving his PhD from Imperial College London in 2007. In the late 1970s, he took a hiatus from his studies to focus on the band. May is also a staunch advocate of animal rights and a vocal critic of fox hunting and badger culling. In 2010, he founded the Save Me Trust to campaign against these practices.
Previously, drummer Roger Taylor had received a royal title, being appointed as an Officer of the Order of the British Empire. In 2005, May had earlier been appointed as a Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire.
May's performance of "God Save the Queen'' on the terrace of Buckingham Palace during Queen Elizabeth II's Golden Jubilee in 2002 was a notable highlight. He also performed with Queen at her Platinum Jubilee Concert, twenty years later.
