Queen Elizabeth II passed away on September 8. She was the longest reigning monarch in the history. The preparations for an elaborate funeral are underway. The Queen's funeral would be held on September 19 and include a service at Westminster Abbey, a military procession in London, a cortege and a family ceremony at Windsor Castle’s chapel.

Here are some other details of the funeral that are known thus far –
• The coffin would be carried from Westminster Hall to Westminster Abbey at 10:45 am BST. Royal Navy’s State Gun Carriage would carry the coffin.
• The funeral services would start from 11 am BST. • Around 2,000 guests are expected to attend the service. • The funeral would be held at the Westminster Abbey, where no ruling monarch’s funeral has been held since the 18th century. • The Queen is expected to be buried at 7:30 pm BST at Windsor Castle’s chapel in a private ceremony. • BBC TV would broadcast the events, which would also stream on BBC iPlayer. • The funeral procession would travel through London after leaving Westminster Abbey. It would be taken to the Wellington Arch.

• The coffin would make its final journey to Windsor Castle from the Wellington Arch. The expected time to leave the Arch is 1 pm BST. • The hearse will expectedly arrive at the Castle at 3 pm BST. From there, walking through the Long Walk would move the coffin to Windsor Castle’s Quadrangle. • Finally, the coffin would enter St. George’s Chapel for the final ceremony. • The Sovereign’s piper would deliver a performance before the Queen is buried. The Queen herself reportedly requested this performance. • The Queen would be buried beside her late husband, the Duke of Edinburgh.
