The late monarch Queen Elizabeth II appointed nine ladies in waiting between 1953 and 2017. These ladies assisted the queen in discharging her daily duties, from maintaining the official diary to arranging private and family events. It is interesting to know the Ladies-in –waiting was not paid staff of the royal household and was generally not supposed to leave or retire. In other words, it was an association for a lifetime.
