Due to her ongoing recovery from COVID, the Queen Consort Camilla cancelled her planned visit to a food charity in east London. As a result, King Charles III went alone and had the opportunity to interact with the staff and volunteers at The Felix Project.

According to Buckingham Palace, Camilla has made a remarkable recovery but is taking some time off before a busy schedule of royal engagements on Thursday. Camilla, who is 75 years old, tested positive for Covid for the second time on February 13, which resulted in her absence from several scheduled events.

Last week, Camilla was unable to attend several visits including one to Milton Keynes, Birmingham, and Telford, and also had to reschedule a literary reception at Clarence House. However, a spokesperson stated that she had recovered well from her illness.

Despite this, to ensure she has enough time to prepare for Thursday's literary reception and other engagements, Camilla will not be present at today's Felix Project engagement.

Charlotte Hill, the CEO of The Felix Project, expressed her disappointment at Camilla's absence, saying that both Camilla and Charles had recently visited the Harrow Hub, one of the community partners that receive food from the charity. Hill expressed hope that Camilla will have the chance to visit a Felix Project depot in the future, and wished her a speedy recovery.

The Felix Project is the largest food redistribution charity in London, working to address the issue of food waste and poverty by distributing surplus food from supermarkets.

The charity has partnered with The Prince of Wales's Charitable Fund and received a starting fund of £1 million, which includes a personal donation from King Charles III. The money is being used to provide fridges and freezers to various organizations throughout the UK to help store fresh and frozen food.
