Prince William and Princess Kate Middleton made a spirited arrival in Wales to commemorate Black History Month, sharing fist bumps and high-fives with enthusiastic schoolchildren. Kate exuded professionalism in a navy pinstripe Holland Cooper suit, the same outfit she wore last week while meeting Apple CEO Tim Cook at Windsor Castle. William looked equally smart in a brown blazer, navy chinos, and a tie.

Upon their arrival at their first engagement, the royal couple was welcomed by a lively group of school students. Instead of opting for formal handshakes, they engaged in friendly fist bumps and high-fives with the thrilled children. Following this, the pair met with members of Windrush Cymru Elders, Black History Cymru 365, and the Ethnic Minority Youth Forum for Wales at the Grange Pavilion. There, they learned about the remarkable contributions of the Windrush Generation to Wales and how they have promoted positive change in the region.

The visit fulfilled William's promise to visit the Caribbean elders of Wales for Black History Month. Earlier this year, Professor Uzo Iwobi, founder and chief executive of Race Council Cymru, asked the heir to the throne to travel to Wales and pay tribute to the men and women who arrived in Britain on the HMT Empire Windrush 75 years ago. Prof Iwobi revealed that she secured William's commitment during the investiture ceremony when she received her CBE at Windsor Castle for her contributions to race relations.

During their meeting, William and Kate received warm embraces from their hosts. In a lighthearted moment during a group photo, Prince William jokingly remarked that someone had pinched his bottom, eliciting laughter from everyone. When he hugged one woman for a longer duration than expected, he playfully quipped, "I draw the line at kissing!" The couple also engaged in a game of table tennis with two teenage Somali girls, with Prince William complimenting Kate's serve.

The Grange Pavilion, a collaborative project involving Grange Pavilion Project, Grangetown Community Action, Cardiff University, and Cardiff Council, transformed a previously vacant bowls pavilion into a community facility.

Subsequently, William and Kate visited Fitzalan High School , where they learned about the students' Black History Month projects and vocational courses . Fitzalan High, located in one of Cardiff's most diverse areas, recently opened a new school building with modern facilities to support student achievement.

This joint outing marked the first public engagement for William and Kate in nearly a month, with their previous joint appearance occurring on the first anniversary of the late Queen's death. On that day, they visited Wales, attended a church service in honor of the late monarch, and visited an RNLI station.
