Prince William is 'taking active role' as new Duke of Cornwall
The new property portfolio of Prince William includes a cricket ground and a prison.

Prince William had meetings with some chief figures in the Duchy last week. Among them was the Secretary and Keeper of the Records for the Duchy of Cornwall, Alastair Martin. The estate is worth around £1 billion, which last year brought an income of over £20 million to the then Prince Charles.
‘Fully immersing’
According to PEOPLE magazine, a royal source said that the Prince is "fully immersing" himself in the estate and is much more likely to "take an active role" in it.The Duchy of Lancaster covers 130,000 acres and includes castles, housing developments, and one-third of the homes on the Isles of Scilly, which are part of William's new property portfolio.
The Dartmoor prison and the oval cricket ground in south London are also held by the Duchy. Edward III established the Duchy to provide independence to Prince Edward, his son and heir, in 1337, as per the official website.
The longest-serving Duke:
The Duke and his immediate family use the revenue coming from this estate to fund private, public, and charitable activities. Before his ascension to the throne following the death of his mother, King Charles III had been the longest-serving Duke.It was at the age of 21 that Charles took over the management of the estate. William visited the Duchy several times over the past year, knowing that he was to follow in the footsteps of his father.
