Prince William and Kate Middleton US trip: Earthshot Prize was 'not the main reason', claims royal commentator

According to a royal commentator, the Earthshot Prize was not the primary reason Prince William and Kate Middleton travelled to Boston this week.

The formal reason for Prince William and the Princess of Wales's visit to Boston this week was to launch and host the Earthshot Prize ceremony.

According to one royal analyst, the unofficial goal of the three-day tour was to win back Americans. According to the Daily Mail's Editor at Large Richard Kay, the visit is an aspect of a new approach to prevent the monarchy's "surrender" to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in the United States.

Kay stated that the Royal Family is well aware that their reputation in the United States has suffered due to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's departure and subsequent relocation to California. He believes William and Kate would have been irritated if their three-day vacation to Boston had been interrupted by a trailer for Harry and Meghan's Netflix documentary series.
