A gang allegedly intended to topple the German government and establish a self-proclaimed prince as the country's new leader. The charges were expressed as a significant anti-terror operation by Minister Marco Buschmann, the Justice of Germany, who posted on Twitter that there is a suspicion that an armed attack against constitutional bodies was planned.

Among the defendants is also an old man who is known as 'Prince Heinrich XIII,' who is said to be the leader of the so-called 'Reichsbürger movement. But who is the leader named after, and what is the campaign's purpose?

So who was Prince Heinrich XIII?

The moniker is supposed to refer to Prince Heinrich XIII, the Prince Reuss of Greiz, from 1800 until he died in 1817 at 69. The Prince is most remembered for restoring Greiz after a fire destroyed the city in 1802.

He reconstructed the city in a neoclassical fashion and transferred his home from the Oberes Schloss to the Unteres Schloss to be closer to his people.

Following the breakup of the Holy Roman Empire, Henry XIII joined the Rhine Confederation and the German Confederation. He was involved in a territorial dispute with the Kingdom of Saxony at the Congress of Vienna in 1814-15, winning the domains of Altgommla and Kühdorf.
