The Netflix docuseries around Prince Harry and Meghan Markle has received scathing criticism from the supporters of the British monarchy. While it was one of the most awaited Netflix releases of 2022, critics said that it largely failed to meet expectations.

Prince Harry & Meghan was touted as an “unprecedented” documentary that would allow the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to present their side of the story. However, film and show critics described the first volume of the docuseries, which has three episodes, as long hours of whining, while some also termed it as “monumentally boring.”

Nile Gardiner termed the show a “propaganda documentary” showing the two “extremely privileged and uberwealthy narcissists” whining for several hours. Nile added that the show lacked substance or any information that could catch the royal off guard. Nonetheless, the show had a massive opening, with over 2.4 million viewers watching it on the very first day. The second volume of the docuseries is scheduled for release on December 15.

The first three episodes of the documentary explore the alleged “media bashing” of Meghan Markle before her marriage to Prince Harry. The first part also discusses Meghan’s troubled relationship with her father and the alleged racism within the royal family.

Within the first few minutes of the show, Harry took aim at the media. "No one knows the entire truth. "We know the whole truth, the institution knows the whole truth, and the media knows the whole truth because they were in on it," Harry explained. He believes it is his "duty" to "uncover this exploitation and bribery that occurs within our media."
