The International Trade Union Confederation suggests around 7,000 workers could die by the time of the World Cup commencement.

However, authorities in Qatar suggest there have only been 34 non-work and three work-related deaths. Amnesty International has also called on Fifa to pay Qatar stadium workers up to £350m in compensation due to the 'human rights abuses' they have been subject to.
