Northern Ireland's Josh Rock defeated England's Nathan Aspinall 4-3 in the third round of the PDC World Championship. Bookmakers consider Rock, who easily defeated Jose Justicia and Callan Rydz in the first two rounds, to be one of the tournament favourites.

The 10-seed Aspinall's several doubles errors were punished by the 21-year-old to knock out the two-time semi-finalist and book a matchup with Jonny Clayton in the fourth round. The result keeps the 21-year-old's hopes alive.

After winning the seventh set 3-1 in legs, the Irish player said that there is a lot more to come. The 21-year-old smashed two straight double 20s to lead 2-0 in the decisive set and then sealed the victory in a nail-biting finish as Aspinall wasted a fantastic opportunity to tie the match at 2-2.

After two straight maximums, Rock came back in the fourth set, breaking Aspinall in the first leg and thrashing in the 180s to leave himself on a nine-darter. Rock averaged 110 in that incredible set, which the Northern Irishman lost out on, but he still won the leg in 11 darts to tie the match.
