Paul Merson reveals he asked Kylie Minogue out at the Brit Awards and got rejected, read here

In a recent interview with The Guardian, former professional footballer and current Sky Sports football pundit Paul Merson revealed that his celebrity crush, Kylie Minogue, had rejected him when he asked her out.

The incident occurred at the Brit Awards, where Merson had the opportunity to ask the Australian singer out.

“Years ago, I was at the Brit awards and asked Kylie Minogue out," said Merson.


Merson is currently married to Kate Merson, his third wife, and the couple recently welcomed their third child together in January 2021. He was previously married to Louise Bache; the couple shares twin daughters.

Merson also spoke about his past struggles with addiction, specifically to drugs, gambling, and alcohol, and how he feared "going back" to those vices.

Merson is currently 'Recoverlution's ambassador, which is an online platform for people in recovery. In addition to discussing his struggles, Merson also shared that his guiltiest pleasure is eating a "whole tub" of Ben & Jerry's ice cream, which he attributes to his addictive nature.


When asked about the most expensive thing he's ever purchased, aside from property, Merson recounted a story about buying a black pinstripe suit that ended up costing him much more than he had anticipated. He admitted that he didn't have the courage to put anything back and couldn't even guess how much the suit ultimately cost him.

He said, “Thirty-odd years ago I bought a black pinstripe suit which I thought was £900. But when I went to pay – the trousers and waistcoat were extra, and the cost was just for the jacket."
