‘Oppenheimer’ London Premiere amid SAG-AFTRA strike?

Despite the collapse of talks between Screen Actors Guild - American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) and Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) Thursday, Christopher Nolan and Universal will go ahead with the London premiere of ‘Oppenheimer.’

Movie’s cast members Cillian Murphy, Robert Downey Jr., Josh Hartnett, Kenneth Branagh, Matt Damon, Emily Blunt, and Florence Pugh were seen getting ready for the red-carpet Thursday evening. They were preparing for the photo-ops and interviews before the curtain closes on any interviews in the wake of the strike.

The unions are most likely to give the green signal for the strike. The actors are most likely to begin the picketing on Friday morning. If the strike takes place, it will be for the first time since 1960 that the actors and writers go on strike at the same time.


Christopher Nolan’s much-awaited movie is a biographical thriller based on the life of theoretical physicist Robert Oppenheimer, who worked for making the first nuclear bomb under the Manhattan Project. Universal Pictures will release it on July 21. It will be released at the time when Discovery ‘s ‘Barbie’ starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling will be released.
