On December 15, Gaby Hutchinson, 23, a security guard and Rebecca Ikumelo age 33 and a mother of two were significantly injured while trying to enter the venue with 3000 people for a performance by Asake, a Nigerian artist at The Brixton O2 Academy. Later, both Gaby and Rebecca died in hospital. According to Rolling stone, there were many people who got injured in this incident, among them, a 21-year-old too fell prey to the mishap and is still hospitalised.
The Nigerian Artist Asake has also shared his condolences on Twitter following the crowd crush incident and configuring the reason for the disaster.
Lambeth Councillors shared their views in an open letter by explaining how they are looking into the matter and how sorry they are about what the people had to go through. They vowed to review and take required actions.
