Norwich City have fired Dean Smith following their Boxing Day defeat to Luton Town. Along with Smith, team’s assistant manager Craig Shakespeare and first-team coach Liam Bramley, have been relieved of their duties with immediate effect.

Norwich City have now lost three of their last four games, dropping them to fifth place in the Championship. Smith has struggled to impress the Carrow Road faithful during his 13 months in charge. A string of disappointing recent performances has prompted a vocal minority of supporters to express their displeasure. As a result, majority shareholder Delia Smith and husband Michael Wynn-Jones have decided to fire Smith and his assistant, Craig Shakespeare.

During Monday night's loss at 10-man Luton, supporters chanted for Smith's dismissal. This was the latest sign of growing tension between the club's manager and the fan base.

Smith, a former Aston Villa manager, took over as manager at Carrow Road in November 2021, succeeding Daniel Farke.
