Northern Rail’s flash sale of train tickets throughout northern England has been announced. Here is how you can get these train tickets for £1.

With the cost-of-living crisis making an impact on UK households, many Brits are worried about the upcoming winter season as energy bills will be skyrocketing.

The price of train tickets has been ballooning for years, which is making the daily commute to work tougher for people, even impacting the weekend trips people take.

In response to this situation, a sale is now being offered by Northern Rail to its passengers, where tickets will be sold for just one euro.

The sale of tickets will be done on a first-to-get basis. So, if you have planned or are planning a trip on the railways, now is the time to purchase a ticket.

Commuters will be able to purchase these flash sale train tickets from August 30 at 10 a.m. onwards for the dates between September 6 and October 20.

The total number of train tickets available to claim is more than a million.

Mark Powel, the customer and commercial director of Northern Rail, said that this flash sale of train tickets is their means of aiding in prolonging the "summer holiday feeling by a further six weeks".

He went on to say that whether people want to spend "a day at the seaside in Scarborough" or "a night out in Newcastle," these train ticket sales will help them get there for less.

Process to get Northern Rail’s £1 train tickets

You can purchase these tickets only through Northern Rail’s official website, which is open to all.

The flash sale train tickets cover nearly all of Northern Rail’s two thousand daily services, and for the £1 price, only 5 to 10 per cent of each train’s capacity can be claimed. The calculation is different for each journey because of the varied demand. For instance, some trains during rush hours aren’t included in the £1 ticket.

Booking should be done at least one week in advance for each £1 train ticket. The sales start at 10 am and will be available till the last ticket is sold.
