Sir Lindsay Hoyle, Speaker for the House of Commons, refused Westminister Hall access request to the Chinese delegation because of their sanctions against two peers and five MPs.

The Queen's funeral will emerge on Monday, and she will lie in-state till then. China imposed sanctions against seven parliamentarians and nine Britons for their accusation against Beijing of mistreating Uighur Muslims. The result was a ban on the Chinese ambassador to the UK Parliament.

Relations between the UK and China are already not good, and the ban will not be of much help. However, we expect China's Vice President to attend the funeral on Monday.

Say No To China

The Queen consented in 1965 that Speakers of the Commons, Lords, and the Lord Great Chamberlain would share the Westminister Hall control. Lord McFall and Sir Lindsay told UK's China ambassador he was not welcome at the Parliament due to Beijing's sanctions last September, and the Chinese government called the ban cowardly and despicable.

Tim Loughton, Iaian Duncan Smith, and seven other peers and MPs urged the Foreign Secretary not to invite the Chinese President to the funeral.

They urged it would be inappropriate for China to represent because of their human rights record. Many countries in the West have imposed various sanctions on Chinese officials after allegations of racial abuse against Uighur Muslims.

The Chinese have detained Uighur Muslims in Xinjiang, and allegations of sexual abuse, forced labour, and torture have emerged. However, China has denied abuse allegations and said the camps are anti-terrorism re-education camps.
