Boston's comeback was nothing short of impressive as the teams solidified its unbeaten record in regulation, now standing at an impressive 8-0-1 for the season. Goalkeeper Linus Ullmark's terrific performance, with 36 saves, cemented Boston's win against the Panthers, who had previously knocked the Bruins out of the playoffs during the last season's intense first-round clash.
On the opposing side, Aleksander Barkov showcased his prowess by scoring a goal and setting up another, while Goalkeeper Sergei Bobrovsky put up a valiant effort with 23 saves for the Panthers. Despite their strong start, the Panthers eventually succumbed to the pressure exerted by the Bruins.
The Sunday night game also witnessed some tense moments. Bruins' defenseman Charlie McAvoy was ejected in the final period for elbowing Oliver Ekman-Larsson in the head. However, the Bruins managed to weather the storm and nullify the five-minute power play, eventually pushing the game to overtime, where Zacha's decisive wrist shot sealed the deal for Boston.
The victory didn't come easy for the Bruins as defenseman Matt Grzelcyk was ruled out for the rest of the game with an upper body injury. Similarly, Panthers' forward Sam Bennett, who missed seven games over an injury, had to be helped off the ice in the second period.
On Thursday, Panthers are set to face off Detroit Red Wings while Bruins are gearing up to host the Toronto Maple Leafs on the same night.
