Ngozi Fulani: British charity boss claims that Lady Susan Hussey's remarks on race were offensive

Ngozi Fulani called her conversation with Prince William's godmother "an interrogation" after Lady Susan questioned Fulani about her background on Tuesday at Buckingham Palace.

British charity boss Ngozi Fulani has claimed that she was asked about her background by Lady Susan Hussey at royal event, according to a BBC report.

Buckingham Palace said the remarks were deplorable and unacceptable. Prince William's spokesperson also added that racism does not exist in their society. The Princess and Prince of Wales visited the United States for the Earthshot Prize awards, but this incident overshadowed the visit. Fulani said Prince William's godmother Lady Hussey repeatedly tried to see her badge, challenging her to answer where she belonged to.

Fulani said it felt like an interrogation. She felt it was not physical abuse but was abuse nonetheless. Queen Elizabeth's lady-in-waiting has resigned since it happened. Lady Hussey had been among the Royal Household's key figures and started working at the Palace when Prince Andrew was born in 1960.

Ladies of the Household

Eventually, Lady Hussey became the longest-serving lady-in-waiting. Buckingham Palace recently announced that the former and current lady-in-waiting would be known as "ladies of the household" subsequently. When Fulani was asked if she wanted Lady Hussey to resign or apologize, Fulani simply said she would have preferred the incident not to have happened.
