Buckingham Palace has officially revealed the monogram for Camilla, the Queen Consort and wife of King Charles III. According to the official press release, the monogram has been designed by Professor Ewan Clayton, and it will be used by the Queen Consort on her personal letterhead, cards, and gifts.

The new monogram has the initials 'C' and 'R' which represent Camilla Regina. Regina is the Latin word for Queen. The palace officials also stated that the new cypher would be used on Camilla’s cross, scheduled to be laid at the Field of Remembrance, Westminster Abbey, on Thursday.

King Charles III personally chose his monogram from a range of designs created by the College of Arms in September. Charles’s cypher includes 'C', 'R', and the Latin number 'III', initials for Charles, Rex (Latin for King), and III. The King’s new monogram will be used on state documents, post boxes, and government departments.

As of date, about 60 per cent of the 70,000 post boxes in the UK hold the monogram of Queen Elizabeth II, while the remaining are from the reign of Queen Victoria, King Edward VII, King George V, and King George VI. The old cyphers are replaced with the monograms of the new heads of the British Monarchy only when the old post boxes need to be replaced.

The coronation ceremony of King Charles III is scheduled to take place on May 8, 2023. UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak announced an additional bank holiday on the day of the new King’s coronation.
