The United Kingdom is grieving the loss of the monarch. The mourning period is twelve days ahead of the Queen's funeral. It will be held on September 19 (Monday), and this day has been declared a bank holiday.

Queen Elizabeth II died in peace on the afternoon of September 8. She was 96-year-old and, in her last moments, was at her Balmoral Castle residency in Aberdeenshire.

The Queen's funeral is arranged for the 19th of September at 11. It will take place at Westminster Abbey. Thus, on Monday, it will be a bank holiday.

The government has said that this will allow the citizens to mourn for their Queen. This bank holiday is the same as other bank holidays across the United Kingdom. Employers should include this day as the obligatory worker's leave.
The schools will remain closed on the final day of the mourning. The shops can open as they wish. The government will ask the people to close their shops early or not open them at all to mourn the passing of Her Majesty.
What will happen on the day of the Queen's funeral?
• The late Queen will lie in Westminster Hall, where people can pay their respects. They will have to join the 24-hour lines from 5 pm Wednesday to 6:30 am Monday. • On Monday, at 10:44 am, the coffin will be taken to Westminster Abbey on a gun carriage carried by soldiers. • After the coffin arrives, Canterbury Archbishop will perform a service alongside Reverend David Hoyle, Dean of Westminster.

• The royal family, close friends, politicians, and leaders will attend the service. A two-minute silence will be held across the nation at noon. • The Queen's coffin will next go to Saint George's Chapel at Windsor Castle for a committal service on television.
