His team may have been on the ‘losing-side’ in the Fifa World Cup 2022, but French footballer Kylian Mbappe made everybody sit up and take notice with his swashbuckling performance.. He became the second player (after Portuguese striker Goncalo Ramos) to score a hat-trick. Mbappe rescued his team from the brink of defeat by scoring goals thrice. But alas it was not enough to ensure a World Cup win.

A football veteran at the tender age of 23, Mbappe is a French professional footballer who plays as a forward for Ligue 1 club Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and the French national team.

In 2017, Mbappe joined PSG from Monaco on a loan before becoming permanent a year later for 180 million Euros.

Mbappe has scored 190 goals in 237 games for the French champions, where he plays alongside Neymar and Argentina legend Lionel Messi.

Mbappe was a known football geek in his teens. Like any football fan, he plastered his bedroom walls with pictures of his idols - Zinedine Zidane and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Mbappe is one of the fastest players in the world. While playing for Paris Saint-Germain, he ran at a speed of 23.6 mph (38 km per hour), which is reportedly 0.25 mph faster than Bolt’s average speed during his 100m world record win in 2009.

Mbappe was only 19 when he became the second teen to score in a World Cup final. The only other teen who accomplished this feat was the Brazilian soccer legend Pele who scored at a World Cup final that his country went on to win 5-2 over Sweden in 1958.

Mbappe reportedly donated all of his World Cup earnings (roughly 400,000 Euros) to a children’s charity called Premiers de Cordée.

Mbappe is one of the most-followed celebs on Instagram. With a jaw-droppingly high follower count of 24.1 million followers, Mbappe easily beats his country’s President Macron who has only 3.1 million followers on Insta.
