One of the most significant decisions you'll have to make is what to name your newborn child. It is never easy. Nowadays, parents seek a name that feels special and fits their child, but selecting anything too special might backfire.

The name you choose will be with your child for life, and while it may be wise to go with something more conventional, there has been a rise in uncommon names as parents are looking for ways to make their child stand out from the crowd.

A new name has now replaced Oliver to become the most popular boy's name in 2020. Noah has now reigned supreme. Oliver has been knocked off the top rank for boys' names for the very first time in 8 years, signaling a significant shift.

The prevalence of traditional names declined the previous year, but the list for 2021 reveals that moms over 35 are still more inclined to give their children more conventional names like Thomas. Younger mothers, however, preferred abbreviations of the conventional name, like Tommy.
