TikTok star Modou Adams jailed for attempting to smuggle 2.9 kg of cocaine into the UK

TikTok sensation, Modou Adams, has been sentenced to more than six years in prison after being apprehended while attempting to smuggle cocaine into the United Kingdom. The incident unfolded at the Jorge Chavez International Airport in Peru, where he was stopped and searched on September 30.

Adams, aged 25, was handed a sentence of six years and eight months by a court in Peru's Callao district. He faced charges related to coordinating the shipment of 2.9 kilograms of cocaine to London.

CCTV footage recorded Adams outside his hotel, clad in shorts and a black hoodie, as he entered the building. Subsequently, law enforcement apprehended him while attempting to board a flight back to Europe.


The dramatic moment of his arrest by two anti-drug squad officers at the Jorge Chavez International Airport was also recorded.

Authorities discovered cocaine concealed inside a suitcase that was intended to be shipped from Peru to London. The street value of the drugs was estimated to be around £300,000.

After admitting to the drug trafficking charges, Adams was fined approximately £1,500 for his involvement in the incident.

Peruvian authorities have made it clear that Adams will serve his sentence in full within the South American country, resulting in a significant hiatus from his "criminal cover" sideline.

Peru's Supreme Court shared an edited image of the online influencer behind bars on social media following his sentencing.

Modou Adams had posted photos of himself on Instagram at Machu Picchu, a historic site nestled in the Andes Mountains, just four weeks prior to his arrest.
