Mikaben, a beloved musician from Haiti, has passed away. On Saturday, October 15, the singer Michael Benjamin, aka Mikaben, was on stage when he passed out.

Mikaben was a guest of the Haitian group Carimi at the 20,000-seat Accor Arena in Paris, France. According to local media, Mikaben died after suffering a seizure on stage, and despite the efforts of emergency responders, the venue reported the incident on Twitter, according to local media. The singer was 41 when he passed away.

Mikaben fainted before he left the stage, and audience members recorded the event on video, which they later posted on social media. The artiste could be seen in the footage playing before abruptly turning and leaving the stage.

Mikaben was born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, in 1981. He is the son of legendary performer Lionel Benjamin, sometimes referred to as the "Haitian Santa Claus" for his well-known holiday song "Abdenwèl."


When Mikaben was only 15 years old, he wrote his very first song, which launched his career that lasted more than two decades.
