The Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle revealed the moment she was treated as a mixed woman and then things started changing.

During the second episode of her Spotify and Archewell Audio series, "Archetypes," Meghan Markle discussed being considered and treated like a Black woman for the first time.

American singer-songwriter Mariah Carey, who is also biracial, spoke with the Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex about being biracial. Mariah was the guest at Meghan’s podcast.

The newest episode of Meghan Markle's Spotify podcast released on Tuesday. She said that she had read an article on a renowned actress Halle Berry and therein Berry was asked about her thoughts on being treated as someone from mixed-race.


Meghan Markle had replied that the experience depends on how people treat and regard you. She claimed that because of her darker skin tone, she was treated as a Black person and not like a mixed person.

Meghan Markle continued by saying that she felt as though the world did not see her as clearly fitting in because she was neither Black nor White.

The duchess continued that she believed for them, it's really different since they are light-skinned. They are not treated like a Black woman or a white woman. They sort of fall between the two.

But Meghan Markle's life had a turning point when "things truly transformed" for her and how people perceived her.

Meghan Markle said that the only time the attention on her has been more on my race in her life is since she began dating her Prince Harry, her husband. Then, the former "Suits" actor remarked that she began to comprehend what it felt like to be considered to a Black lady. Because she had been regarded like a mixed woman up to that point. And a lot of things changed.
