Meghan Markle and Prince Harry announce new staff ahead of Netflix show's premiere

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have announced a major change in their staff members. This comes ahead of the premiere of the new show, With Love, Meghan, and her lifestyle brand, As Ever.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have roped in Meredith Maines to take on the role of their first chief communications officer.

Who is Meredith Maines?

Maines earned Bachelor’s degrees in English and Music Composition from the Stanford University. She has also done Master’s in Communications, according to Axios.


Most recently, she served as the Marketing Partner at Lightspeed Venture Partners, wherein she looked after the marketing, brand and communications across the firm, besides being the advisor to portfolio company founders as well as their executive teams.

Prior to this, she has worked with Google and ran communications at Hulu. Also, she was a talent manager for popular TV show American Idol.

On her appointment, Maines said she is "honoured" to partner with Prince Harry and Meghan.

"I'm excited to help them tell their story as entrepreneurs, builders and philanthropists while overseeing all communications for the couple and their ventures," People magazine quoted Maines as saying.

She is all set to begin work on March 3.

Maines succeeds Ashley Hansen

Hansen, who was working for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex since 2022, left the job in October last year. She was serving as the Global Press Secretary and Head of Communications for the couple.

Hansen went on to introduce her own firm through Harry and Meghan's support, according to Axios.

During her exit, Hansen shared that she was starting a new venture, while continuing to work with the couple. Thereafter, she launched Three Gate Strategies, a communications firm based in Los Angeles.

The firm stated that it will handle Meghan’s new business ventures as well as other creative projects, which includes her forthcoming show on Netflix and lifestyle brand.

Another appointment

Besides Meredith Maines, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have also hired Shahed Fakhari Larson as their outside strategic communications counsel. She will look forward to support their tech and business ventures.

Larson is the founder of UNLMTD Partners and earlier was the CMO at Coatue.

The new joining comes as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are gearing up for the premiere of the new Netflix show With Love, Meghan. It is all set for its debut on March 4. Apart from this, Meghan will be releasing her lifestyle brand, As Ever, soon.
