Love Island creators have announced that Maya Jama will be the new host of the dating game show. The upcoming winter series, which airs after a two-year break due to the pandemic, will premiere in January 2023.

The creators posted a video on Instagram which showed the British presenter scrolling through her phone, sipping from a bottle, and showing off her luggage bag.





The caption for the video stated that the rumours of Maya Jama being the new Love Island host were true. Maya will be replacing Laura Whitmore, the Irish model who has been the host of Love Island since January 2020.

Laura commented on the Instagram post and said she was delighted for Maya being the next Love Island host and that she’d be fabulous in the role. Maya has previously been a presenter of BBC One’s sports comedy game show, Peter Crouch: Save Our Summer, alongside Peter Crouch and Alex Home. She’s also presented the BBC Three game show Glow Up: Britain’s Next Make-Up.

Commenting on Maya joining the dating game show, ITV Director Paul Mortimer said that replacing Laura wasn’t an easy task. However, Paul added that Maya was a great addition to Love Island as she was a show fan and looked fantastic, charming, and charismatic. Paul stated that the entire team was pleased to have Maya on board.
