Max Verstappen was the winner by a mile, but the first assumption was that only a handful or a certain percentage of the points would be awarded because rain played spoilt sport and less than three-fourths of the race could be completed. However, the F1 rules suggest that if a race does not resume after a red flag, that is when lower points would be awarded. F1 officials decided that giving the full points would be the right move after the race could not be continued.

Charles Leclerc had to suffer a five-second penalty for his defence against Perez, in which he was deemed overly aggressive. The gap Verstappen has at the top is not beatable, and the top minds at Mercedes and Red Bull have to figure out how to delve through the game's regulations. His win as the champion is the latest point of confusion in F1. Verstappen was happy after winning and said how incredible the year had been. He was happy to be crowned the champion.
