Massive blaze at multi-storey in Leeds city centre, here's everything you need to know

The firefighters of Leeds city in England, have managed to put out a huge fire that broke out at a multi-storey building in the city centre. Many buildings, which are located in the city centre, are also evacuated.

The city centre building caught fire on Saturday evening, at approx. 45 minutes past 7 pm. The fire started on the top three floors of the building. The building was reportedly worn out.

The emergency services came to the spot as quickly as possible and still tackled the fire hours later. As a safety measure, several nearby buildings were evacuated. Almost ten fire trucks were sent to the city centre, and a safety cordon was also put in place.


The emergency staff has requested that people stay far from the building area. In addition, they have also alerted the people that the building structure is unsafe and might cause even more damage.




Quite a few videos are floating around the internet. One of the videos showed how the fire quickly spread over the building. The person who posted the video on Twitter wrote that a loud explosion could be perceived as the fireworks tend to hit the building.

The chief executive of the city council of Leeds expressed his gratitude towards the fired executive for their quick response and for extinguishing the fire.
