London Marathon 2022: When and where to watch on TV

You can watch the London Marathon 2022 on TV. The iconic marathon will take place on October 2.

Around 42,000 runners will take part in this year's iconic London Marathon. The famous sights of Tower Bridge and Cutty Sark are among the best spots along the 26.2-mile route. Birdcage Walk, Woolwich and the Isle of Dogs are other prominent destinations one can get a good view of the iconic marathon.

However, if you cannot reach these spots, do not worry because you can also watch the runners on the TV.

The 2022 London Marathon is scheduled for October 2 (Sunday). Notably, this will be the last time the marathon will take place in autumn before reverting to the spring for the next year.


The timings for the start of the different races in London Marathon are:

  • Mini London Marathon - 8:30 am (local time)
  • Elite wheelchair races - 8:50 am (local time)
  • Elite women's race - 9:00 am (local time)
  • Elite men's race and mass start - 9:30 am (local time)

BBC will broadcast the iconic mass participation event and elite races on October 2. The coverage will start at 8:30 am until 9:25 am on BBC Two. After that, the coverage will switch to BBC One from 9:25 am to 2:35 pm. The marathon will also be live streamed on the iPlayer. Interestingly, the average time for a male runner to complete the marathon is approximately 3 hours and 48 minutes, while it is about 4 hours and 23 minutes for female runners.
