Liverpool home shooting: Nine-year-old girl shot dead, two injured in UK

A nine-year-old child was killed by a gunman, who began firing inside a Liverpool home, a murder inquiry is currently underway.

At around 10 PM on Monday, police were called to a house in the city's Knotty Ash neighbourhood on Kingsheath Avenue, where they found the girl suffering a gunshot wound in the chest.

She was taken urgently to the hospital, but doctors were unable to save her, and she was declared dead.


Police claimed they were conducting an investigation to identify the offender, knocking on doors, searching CCTV footage and more.

Assistant Chief Constable Jenny Sims stated, "A young and innocent girl has just been shot and sadly killed in this situation, which is very horrible.

"At this extremely sad time, our thoughts and sympathies go out to her family and friends. In these terrible circumstances, losing a kid should never be the responsibility of a parent.




"This cowardly person does not belong on the streets, and I would urge anyone with information to come forward and share it with us so that we can put the offender where they belong—behind bars."

"We are conducting several lines of inquiry as a matter of priority and would ask that anyone who lives, works, or was in the Kingsheath Avenue area last night provide dashcam, CCTV, or mobile phone evidence," the statement reads.

"This crime is reprehensible, and members of our neighborhood must come out and identify the perpetrators."

According to Paula Barker, the Labour MP for Liverpool Wavertree, "the murder, which occurs 15 years to the day that Rhys Jones was senselessly killed on the streets of our city, is surely sad." It is unacceptable, and the senseless bloodshed ought to stop right away.

"I believe that as a community, we come together in times of need, and I know that the people of Liverpool will be appalled this morning."

The pursuit of justice for Rhys, Barker said, "took so many years," and she pleaded with anyone with information to get in touch with Merseyside Police, either openly or in confidence.

She stated, "We can't let that happen to the family of this little girl."
