LGBTQ+ activist Peter Tatchell criticises David Beckham for supporting Qatar World Cup
Peter Tatchell, an outspoken advocate for the LGBTQ community, has blasted David Beckham for backing the World Cup in Qatar. Beckham has signed a 10-year contract as the tournament's ambassador, for which he will receive an estimated £150 million.

After playing a total of 388 times for Manchester United, David Beckham is currently considered one of the world's most well-known persons. During his career, Beckham competed 115 times for the English national team. Tatchell, on the other hand, asserted that the star's image has been irreparably damaged and that the LGBTQ+ community can no longer look up to him as a role model.

David Beckham first rose to fame as a football player, yet he is now recognized for much more than that. His powerful right foot, excellent passing skills, and trademark curled free kicks helped him rise to the top of the British football scene. Throughout his 20-year career, he made 115 appearances for England and helped his sides win 19 major championships. Pelé said that Beckham was one of the best 100 players in the league that year (2004).
