The legendary female game developer Rieko Kodama has died at 58. Sega officially announced the unexpected terrible news of Kodama's demise at the launch of the Sega Mega Drive Mini2. She is also known for producing Skies of Arcadia.

Prominently known as Phoenix Rie, Rieko Kodama started her career in 1984 as a graphic designer at Sega on Altered Beast and Sonic the Hedgehog games.
