Acting agency Urban Collective issued a statement on social media confirming the news. They posted on Twitter that they were "saddened by the passing of our customer Lee Whitlock." Lee was a fantastic character and performer who accomplished courageous and ground-breaking work at a very young age.

Lee first gained notoriety as a kid actor, playing in shows like "Shine On Harvey Moon", before getting parts in well-known TV series including "Grange Hill", where he portrayed Bevis Loveday for four episodes, Casualty, EastEnders, Coronation Street, and EastEnders.
Lee is cherished for his role as Phil in the influential LGBTQ+ BBC drama "Two Of Us", which aired in 1987 and was about a romance between two schoolboys.
