Launch of new Weatherfield neighbourhood on Coronation Street includes charity shop
The new Weatherfield precinct set at Coronation Street is launched, complete with a charity shop.

Realistic Design
The site took nine months for design and development by Coronation Street's design and construction teams. The set has been built and treated to look aged and weathered as a typical 1960s precinct would. The characters Evelyn Plumber and Roy Cropper will be seen in the charity shop where they are volunteers. The producer, Iain MacLeod, said that he appreciated the show's design and construction teams for creating a very realistic precinct for the drama filming.
Fans can expect to see scenes of family outings and teens hanging out in the shopping area, and many not-so-cheerful dealings after dark. The producer also said that he is excited about the new precinct being on screen soon.
The show's Head of Design, Rosie Mullins, stated that she wanted the audience from different walks of life to recognise and identify with the design and have the feeling of stepping back in time.
