A court had ruled actor Meg Wynn Owen was swindled out of £65,000 before she died in June this year. The court stated Owen's friend had stolen thousands of pounds from the actor. Meg Wynn Owen passed away in June this year at the age of 82. In 2015, she was shifted to a care home in Cardiff, Wales, as she had dementia.

As Wales Online reported, Meg Wynn Owen was shifted to the care home, months after her 60-year-old friend Brian Malam was named her power of attorney in 2014. Malam pleaded guilty to stealing money from the late actor when he appeared before the court. He was given a sentence of 32 months. While delivering the judgment, the court stated that Malam, a costume designer, "betrayed" his friend and abused the legal power he was granted.

According to prosecutor Abigail Jackson, the costume designer stole thousands of pounds from Owen's savings account. Jackson said the stealing was done through direct spending, cash withdrawals, and bank transfers.

Malam's crimes surfaced when the staff at the care home accompanied the star to her bank, where Owen examined her financial situation in October 2014. Notably, the costume designer stole the money from his friend over about four years. However, Malam's counsel Andrew Davies stated that the money was used for the upkeep of the costume design business of the actor.

Owen was a famous actor featured in several films such as "Love Actually" and "Pride & Prejudice." She also played a role in "Doctor Who" and the series "Upstairs Downstairs."
