Labour Party surges ahead of Tories, PM Liz Truss continues to defend UK mini-budget

The Labour Party maintained its highest lead since 1998 in all weekly polls. While PM Liz Truss defended the mini-budget, the opposition and some Tories lashed out at her. Concerns have been amplified with the growing economic turmoil in the UK.

The Labour Party has overtaken the Conservatives with a record lead in multiple polls following the economic turmoil triggered last week. The Labour MPs and some Tories have blamed the radical mini budget announced last Friday for the chaos.

However, the newly elected UK Prime Minister Liz Truss continued to defend the mini-budget presented by Chancellor Kwasi Kwarteng. Resultingly, the poll conducted by Times shows Labour leading the way with a lead of 33 points, probably the largest for the Labour Party since 1998.
