Kyle Clifford, crossbow killer, awaits trial for Rape charges after admitted triple murder

Kyle Clifford, 26, admitted to murdering Carol Hunt and her daughter, Hannah and Louise, in Bushey on July 9.

On Wednesday, Clifford appeared at Cambridge Crown Court via video link from HMP Belmarsh and pleaded guilty to three murders. He also admitted to false imprisonment and possession of a butcher’s knife and a crossbow.

He denied the rape charge related to Louise, which was filed last month, with a trial planned for March 3.

Who is Kyle Clifford?

Kyle Clifford, born in April 1998 in Enfield, north London, is 26 years old and the third of four siblings, as reported by UK media. Clifford left the British Army's Queen's Dragoon Guards, after serving for two years, in 2022.

In 2018, Bradley Clifford, Kyle's older brother, was sentenced to life imprisonment for murdering Soban Khan, 18 and Jahshua Francis 19, in Enfield by running them over with his car.

Why was Kyle Clifford accused?

At 7pm on July 9, Carol, Louise and Hannah Hunt were found by police in Bushey, Hertfordshire, with serious injuries. Despite medical intervention, all three died from their injuries.

In a statement after the attack, John Hunt and his daughter Amy said, “the anguish we are enduring is indescribable. “

According to UK media reports, Clifford, Louise Hunt’s ex-boyfriend who has recently broken up with, was the primary suspect from the start.

Following a two-day manhunt, Clifford was discovered injured in a North London cemetery and was arrested.

Initially, Clifford refused to acknowledge the murder, false imprisonment and possession of the offensive weapon.

During a hearing in September at Westminster Magistrates Court, it was revealed that Louise had been found tied up and shot with a crossbow, a weapon akin to a long gun. Crossbows are legal in the United Kingdom, and no licence is needed to own one.
